DiseContent

By default the Dise installer will create a directory called DiseContent on your system drive (normally C:\) that contains presets, effects, transitions, movements and sample files.

The Dise Composer will setup its paths to this directory, so when you start browsing for a video file it will start in the video directory. The DiseContent structure will also be represented in the Library and Content tabs in Dise Composer so that you can easily drag and drop files from there into your Dise Movie. When using Dise Discover, the ReceivedFiles folder will be used to hold transferred content, and the Playback will contain the current playing content.

Why should I use it?

Since your content will grow over time it is recommended to keep it in one location on your hard drive, doing this also means that you more easily can take a backup of all the content just by copying the directory or even move it to another manager. You can also manage content edited on several non-network connected machines just by copying the content into the DISEContent directory.

By using the DiseContent structure it is also easier to make sure that only content that are supposed to be sent to the players are added to the Dise movie files, for example: If you only put the edited, finished content into the DISEContent folder and then used drag and drop from the Content tab then you will not be able to put in a not finished image of video from your editing directory.

If you would like to have the DiseContent directory on another path it is possible to configure Dise Composer to use for example R:\DISEContent, D:\MyContent or even to setup several different Composer Project settings in the Dise Composer so that you can switch between the different DiseContent folders.

Structure of the DiseContent directory

  • Content
    • Demo
  • Library
    • Effects
    • Objects
    • Movements
    • Transitions
  • Playback
  • ReceivedFiles
  • System
    • Curves
    • Effects
    • Fonts
    • Palettes
    • Screen definitions
    • Transition alphas

For the structure that we install we have, as you can see, divided the data into three categories:

  • Content - Use for storage of common images, video, music etc. You can continue and add directories under the Images directory to store customer specific images.
  • Library - Use for easy storage of your presets, if you create a new category of presets just create a new directory. In this directory we also store all saved effects, transitions and movements.
  • System - This folder contains files that are usually not handled directly, but instead modified from different editors in the different applications.

You can if you want change the structure of the Content and Library folders, adding and removing folders to help organizing your content, but we recommend that you keep the System folder as is, as the application will access files here directly.
