List of improvements and new features
Main features
- The software is module(plugin)-based, making development faster.
- Full Unicode support (Text, filenames, etc.)
- Screen synchronization, will now synchronize video and objects every second (default).
- New object for merging several objects into one object
- New object for making a list of several other objects.
- Settings and temporary paths will be stored in ProgramData or/and User profile directories
- All time is calculated to an exactness of 100-nanoseconds (DirectShow standard).
- New Web Page rendering engine.
- Dise Complete support has been redesigned to make it more efficient, and let it run when disconnected from the database server.
- Better handling of exceptions and other software related issues.
Graphics
- Redesigned Direct3D render engine
- Redesigned object size management with 3d support
- Rotation movements in 3d
- Effects on objects (Pixel shader)
- Support for Vista and Windows 7 specific Direct3D functions
- Texture mapping, options for aspect, original size, etc. Support for Wrap, Mirror...
- Redesigned transition system (both for scenes and objects).
- "soft" shadow mode, shadows are rendered in higher quality.
- Gradient color will also work with images, video and all other objects producing 32 bit images
Video & Media
- BDA and WDM capture (Digital and Analog).
- New video playback engine and object.
- New flash playback engine and object.
- Mipmap support on images to give zoom effect and image resize much better quality.
- Information (length, transparency, screenshot) for video, images, etc. are now stored in a cache for fast access during edit.
- The Image object has several new features for generated textures
Editing
- Updated user interface, with docking support and better handling of small desktop resolutions.
- Redesigned timeline
- Path edit tool (in the toolbar) with settings dialog
- Times in a path can be configured in intervals with pause between points in the path.
- Rotation has its own tool in the toolbar.
- Hotkeys to select the tool during edit (S,R,P,Z and SPACE)
- Rulers in the edit area
- Configurable composer background grid (from tools).
- Default images to display loading or missing resources in the Composer
- File and Library Browser replaced with more Explorer like browser.
- Drag and drop handling.
- Color picker tool.
- New DiseContent structure.
- Automatic conversion of old Dise Movies to the 1.7 format.
- Guidelines for screens is now known as Screen Definitions.
- Guidelines can be configured from the top left corner of the rulers.
- Screen Definitions is used for default resolutions and for other screen setups.
- Screen Definition setup is done in the Default Settings tab in Composer and you can navigate the screens using F3/F4 or from the View menu.
- Curve editor has been updated.
