We recommend the latest available version of MySQL server. At the time of writing this is version 5.1.32. It can run on any existing server operating system, but because other parts of Dise Complete (Dise Complete Service) is running on Windows machines, we recommend that you use Windows Server.
Hardware requirements are not particularly large. It can do with a normal standard server. For example, a Xeon Dual Core with about 2.0 Ghz CPU and at least 1 GB of RAM. Choose more RAM and hard drive over a more powerful CPU.
MySQL uses a lot of RAM for each connected client (configurable), and with many Dise Replay applications connected and reporting status it may be useful to have plenty of RAM. Over time it can also build up a lot of log data in the database taking up space on your hard drive. We recommend that you have at least 73 GB disks, preferably in a RAID configuration.
The network link between the clients and the server should be both responsive and fast. We therefore recommend that you place the server close to the clients or make sure they have a quick Internet-/VPN-connection with the server. We recommend at least 10 Mbit/s. The server firewall should be protected so only the clients that are supposed to connect will get access.
