Overview

Working with Dise Bridge on the same project from more than one manager requires that you share the content between them, else there is the risk that users overwrite previously uploaded material.

Putting the DiseContent directory on a server and using several Composers to edit the same content is possible as long as each manager has access to all files through normal shared network folders.

Dise Composer

In addition to keeping all images, video etc needed on the shared network folder, make sure to save Dise Movies centrally. To ensure that Dise Movie files are not edited by several people at the same time Dise Movies use a file locking scheme - when a user tries to open a file in use, she will get a warning message.

Fonts

When sharing content it is recommended to also share the fonts used, as you can then limit what fonts that will be used, and also make sure that all managers use the same version of font files. Versions of fonts can differ between Windows version, and depending on if you have installed applications that have provided specific font files. Therefore we recommend that you create a Fonts directory in your shared DiseContent folder and use that folder as the only font folder for all your Composers sharing the content. To change or add a font directory, select the fonts tab in the Dise Composer Preferences.

Sharing an existing setup

You have already created a number of destinations that you now want to be add to from other managers. On the manager where you have the settings that you want to share, follow the steps below.

  • Please backup the file Bridge.settings located in the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dise\Dise 2010\ folder before following this guide.
  • Copy the file Bridge.settings located in the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Dise\Dise 2010\ folder and put it in your shared location. If you have backed them up, you can now safely remove them from the local folder.
  • Follow the steps below to complete the sharing of Bridge settings.

Settings

The steps below must be done on all managers that will be using the shared settings.

  • In Dise Composer, create a new Project or edit the Default project (depending on whether you want to work with different separated projects) and specify the location of the (shared) Bridge.settings file. This file does not have to exist, it will be created in location. We recommend placing the settings file in the same place as your shared content, for example: R:\DISEContent\Bridge.settings or \\SERVER\DISEContent\\Bridge.settings.
  • You will have to tell Bridge to use the shared Bridge settings file (otherwise it will automatically use a local file). To do this, right click on the shortcut and select Properties, then in the Target field you need to add the parameter -S together with the total path to the settings file. For example: "<Dise install directory>\Bridge.exe" -S "R:\DISEContent\Bridge.settings". By default you will have shortcuts to Bridge on the Desktop and in the Windows Start/Programs menu.

You are now done. When Bridge is started (from shortcut, or from the button in the Composer) it will load the settings file from the location specified. If the settings are imported from a prior, large, setup the importing may take some time.

Lightbulb.png Note: If you start Dise Bridge with shared settings from more than one manager at the same time, you will get an message on start informing you about Bridge already running on another PC. It will give you options on what to do. Remember, that if you are then to continue starting Bridge, you will most likely overwrite any changes made on the other manager.
