Windows Media Format (WMV)

Common and free (to use) format, the codec is available on Windows XP SP2 and later and it has proven to be stable for 24/7 usage.

Windows Media provide most resolutions and good quality video using less computing power than most other codec.

To convert your video to Windows Media Video format you can use the Microsoft Expression Encoder or possibly RiverPast Video Cleaner.

QuickTime video

QuickTime is supported in Dise and requires that you have the QuickTime player installed on Editing or Player PCs.

QuickTime provide very good video quality with the option of video transparency, but will use more computing power than WMV.

Other codec

You could use most other codecs as well, but we recommend that you test video playback using those codecs for some time to make sure that there are no problems with crashes or memory leaks.

Video Quality

The quality of video is of course highly subjective, and you will of course get the best quality of making the video in the same size as the source material and then Dise will resize the video to fit the display during playback. If it is possible to get the source video in the same size as the output display size you will also gain some quality and image sharpness.

It is important to point out that having the video in a high resolution may not improve the quality and may lower the frame rate or maybe the performance of the whole PC.

The video quality will be the same if the video is small and resized to an larger display or of the video is to large and is resized to fit a smaller display. And in most cases you will not notice any difference and it may be more important to make the video a bit smaller.

The best way to decide size and bit rate is to create a list of video files from an good quality source at different sizes and bit rates and compare these to each other.
